Brandi Cooper is a self-taught, full-time artist working in acrylics, mixed media and collage.
Beginning as a crafter in the early eighties, she sold her painted wood, fabric and nature made items at craft shows. She gradually transitioned into creating on canvas using paint, fabric, found objects and recently the Gelli Arts Printing Plate as her medium.
“Creating art is my Valium,” quotes Brandi. “I am happiest putting brush to paper, allowing the colors to create the mood and the story.”
Having recently retired from the work a day world, Cooper now puts much of her time towards learning new techniques from artists such as Jane Davies, Carol Nelson and Laura Lein Svencer.
Brandi offers workshops and classes at the Plano Senior Center, her studio, in her home and at YOUR venue.
Brandi’s focus is on helping people find their own creativity by relaxing into a playful approach to art.
In June of 2013, Brandi became a Certified Zentangle Teacher. She has held many classes passing on the ease to which anyone can create beautiful abstract works with patterns. This meditative art form was originally created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas and can be further investigated at Zentangle.com
