My father was an educator and my mother an artist which both inspired my passion for teaching art. I began my art teaching career in Kansas City where I was born. I moved to Texas in the early 1980s when I was hired as an art teacher for beginning of the RISD Elementary Art program. I taught for the next 32 years in Richardson ISD as an Art teacher and 3 of those years teaching in the gifted program.
My last 13 years I had the joy of teaching the gifted art students in a Junior High Art Magnet Program. After retirement I was hired to teach Art second semester last year at All Saints Catholic School, joining my teaching partner from many years ago, DeeAnn McNeil. I have enjoyed the students, parents and teachers here and look forward to a new year.
I enjoy watching children creating and expressing themselves visually. I love to see the joy children find in using art materials. I am always amazed to see ideas, solutions and art generated from students that I would have never thought of. Observing students recognize their own personal growth is definitely a favorite part of my teaching. Seeing students appreciating the creativity and strength in others artworks is also very rewarding.
