Gaby was born in Caracas, Venezuela, then raised in Oklahoma.
Gaby received her photography education by jumping in feet first. After buying an enlarger and a camera, she started teaching herself. Then taking her first formal class at Brookhaven College.
In 2002 she finished her Digital Certificate at Collin College – Spring Creek Campus. Gabrielle also worked as a Digital Lab Assistant at Collin College for three years.
After studying under June Van Cleef, Chris Regas, and Gary Bishop she opened 14th Street Gallery in 2003, offering fine art Giclée prints and printing services for emerging photography students and area artists.
In 2004 she expanded her digital printing studio to include a gallery space to showcase the work of area artists as well as offering exhibition space for MFA thesis shows and monthly exhibits. The gallery closed in 2010.
After a break Gaby Pruitt started focusing on her own photography. This has given her time to study and complete workshops with Dan Burkholder, Charles Cramer, Alan Ross, and Allison Shaw.
In December 2018 Gaby moved into a small satellite studio in the Goldmark Cultural Center artist community.
Gaby has her private studio in Plano, Texas where she works on her art and also printing and photo restoration for clients.
