Mary Catherine Davis
Mary Catherine Davis was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. In 2014, she graduated from Highland Park High School, and went on to continue her studies at The University of Mississippi. With her acceptance into The Bachelor of Fine Arts program, she focused her medium to painting, studying under mentor Philip Jackson.
While in University, Mary Catherine worked towards her Thesis Exhibition, in which she explored the ideas of motion and creating a painting that could serve as another being in the viewers physical space. After completion of her thesis and degree, Davis received the David Rorie Award from the University department of Art and Art History. Upon receiving her degree, and moving back to Dallas, her work has appeared in several shows such as Craighead Green's 'New Texas Talent XXV', and Texas Visual Arts Association's 'Citations 2018.'
Mary Catherine's work often deals with movement and actions or events that take place in our daily lives. Each work is driven by the exploration of human form and the movements it is capable of, while relating emotive properties to paint application, form, and color. Mary Catherine currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
