About the Exhibition
A celebration of fluidity, identity, and visibility, “ELLES - All About Them” is a declaration of presence, a celebration of the fluid beauty that lives beyond the binary. In a world that too often demands certainty, this exhibition invites viewers into a space where ambiguity is power, and identity is expansive, not confined.
Each piece in this exhibition tells a story-not always loud, but always real, the artist share journeys of becoming, affirming, and simply existing in a world still learning how to listen.
“The show honors Latinx Queer nonbinary, genderqueer, genderfluid, agender, and all trans identities that refuse to be boxed in. It's a tribute to those whose existence challenges outdated norms and opens up new languages for being seen, felt, and understood.”
In Armando Sebastian’s universe Art doesn't just reflect identity-it affirms it. It honors the spectrum in all its nuance, joy, resistance, and grace. And it reminds us that gender is not a limit, but a language still being written.
[ELLES] is used in Spanish to refer to people who do not identify with traditional genders, male or female, or when a person's gender identity is unknown. It is a form of inclusive language that seeks to avoid the use of "he" or "she" when inappropriate.
About the Artist
Armando Sebastian is a Dallas-based artist originally from Monterrey, Mexico, whose bold and expressive works celebrate identity, emotion, and cultural heritage. His paintings are known for their vibrant color palettes and symbolic imagery rooted in Mexican folk art and ex-voto traditions. Deeply influenced by themes of gender, identity, love and spiritual reflection, Sebastian’s work blends magical realism with autobiographical storytelling—offering visual narratives that speak to both personal and collective experiences.
He has been exhibiting his work in the North Texas region for the past decade in venues such as the Arlington Museum of Art and the Latino Cultural Center among others, as well as with galleries based in Dallas, Los Angeles and New York City. Sebastian recently received The Otis Velma Dozier Award by the Dallas Museum of Art. He also was recognized with the Artistic Merit Award granted by ArtSpace111 Gallery in its Fourth Annual Regional Juried Exhibition in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2018, he was included in the juried exhibition, New Texas Talent, at Craighead Green Gallery and was a participating artist in MaricónX, a group show that traveled to multiple cities across the state of Texas. His work has been featured in publications such as New American Paintings, PublicArt magazine and the Dallas Morning News among others.
