Madeleine Soich

Madeleine Soich is an object-based artist, primarily working with “dust,” discarded objects, and a pigment codex. Her practice is guided by the charisma of “spent” objects and relational dynamics. Framed within oceanic causality and a projected mythology, Soich’s work reverberates between the body and constructed world to instill empathy between self, other, and environment.

Soich has exhibited in venues such as the PDX Window Project (Oregon), Korpúlfsstaðir Gallerí and SIM Gallerí (Reykjavík, Iceland), LoosenArt (Rome), and Jesuit Dallas Museum (Texas). Her work has been published by Borderline Press and The Maine Review. Additionally, she was nominated for the Windgate Fellowship and has received awards including the May Georges Scholarship as well as a scholarship to Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.

Soich grew up in Dallas, TX, attending Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before moving to Oregon where she earned her BFA from Oregon College of Art and Craft within the disciplines of Metals and Fiber. Most recently she worked as an adjunct professor in Studio Art at Syracuse University. Soich currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas, occasionally offering wearables as addendum to her practice.
