We will be talking about the different methods of signing and labeling your artwork, the standard practices, and the personal preferences of different artists on this topic.

We will be joined by Goldmark artists with diverse experiences who can contribute their knowledge to this discussion, show samples of their signed artwork and labels, and share their recommendations for labeling and signing. Together, we will explore answers to questions like:

• Is it better to sign on the front or the back of your artwork?

• What color should you sign in?

• Should you include the year when you sign?

• Should the signature be integrated into the artwork?

• Should you sign the same way every time?

• What is the standard practice for signing original prints and other editioned artwork?

• What should your artwork’s label be made of - paper, cardstock, foam core?

• What should your label include - name, medium, date, price (POR), dimensions, contact info?

• Where should the label be placed relative to the artwork - right corner, left corner, below?

• Should you include a certificate of authenticity with each artwork? What should this document look like?
