Join us on Thursday 11/12 at 7:00pm in the Goldmark Cultural Center’s Auditorium for an artist talk presented by Goldmark artist Jacqueline Smith, who will be speaking about her experience this summer during a 1-month artist residency at Hub Feenix in Finland.

Located in a historic sanitarium in a rural part of Southern Finland, Hub Feenix is a creative village and community hub that provides an extensive selection of workshops, studios, and a residency program for visiting international artists.

During her presentation, Goldmark artist Jacqueline Smith will share examples of the printmaking artworks she created during her residency and speak about the nature of the residency and her day-to-day experiences at Hub Feenix.

The presentation will conclude with a visit to Jacqueline’s Goldmark art studio to check out the different fine art relief prints and projects she is currently working on.

This presentation is part of a series of artist talks highlighting different artist residencies around the world, in the midst of our own International Artist Residency in November, during which the Goldmark Cultural Center is hosting South Korean painter Sundoo Kim.

About the Artist

Jacqueline Smith is a Dallas-based printmaker specializing in fine art linocut and woodcut, with a working studio at Goldmark Cultural Center. Her artwork explores themes of memory, identity, and place, drawing inspiration from both the American West and her experiences abroad.

Influenced by her upbringing in West Texas and her studies at East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Smith's art often reflects her affinity for wide-open spaces and the enduring spirit of the region. Her prints evoke nostalgic images drawn from both her American upbringing and her recent experiences abroad, creating a dialogue between these distinct cultural memories.
