The Goldmark Cultural Center’s Ruth Andres Gallery presents “Prints, Plates, and Pasta Makers”, a solo exhibition of new fine art relief prints by Goldmark artist Margo Miller.

The exhibition is on display from 10/5 through 10/18 with a reception on Friday 10/16 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The reception is a great opportunity to meet the artist and learn from her about her artwork.

About the Exhibition

This exhibition has given me an extraordinary opportunity to present my dropoint prints alongside some of the tetra pak plates used to create them. I have spent the last couple of years experimenting with this unusual printmaking technique. I have discovered that I can use my drawing skills (a specialization of my BA in Art) with simple tools and create a satisfying art print. Using just a kitchen pasta maker, some cardboard packaging material and a sharp object, I can make a printing plate. With added ink and paper, I can make multiple prints! I also discovered that I love to teach this tecnique and really enjoy the exuberance my students experience when they produce their first print.

I have been an artist my entire life and have been able to experiment with many mediums and styles. As I add to my skills, I always discover there is so much more to learn and more screts to uncover. Art is a lifelong process that involves trust, mistakes, breakthroughs, disappointments, and wonderful suprises. This season of printmaking in my life has been one of questions and answers. I am thrilled to share this journey with you.

About the Artist

Margo Miller is a painter, printer, and assemblage creator known for her exploration of perception and visual experiences. Using acrylics, gold foil, and mixed media, Margo’s work investigates the ways in which we see and interpret the world around us. Her current focus is on pixelated portraits adorned with gold foil, a technique that symbolizes the fragmentation of human perception and the layered nature of how we understand the world.

Her work invites viewers to pause and reconsider their assumptions about the images and patterns they encounter daily, while also celebrating the beauty of the incomplete and the abstract.

Her drypoint prints are created using Tetrapak (a commercial packaging material) and a pasta maker and she enjoys sharing her techniques as she explores the potential of this unique medium.

Margo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Liberal Arts from Southern Methodist University. Over the course of her career, she has taught public school art in Dallas, taught commercial entertainment classes and offered private lessons to aspiring artists.
